Land Acquisition For Dudhkoshi Reservoir Hydropower Project (635 MW) Started

The land acquisition process for Dudhkoshi Reservoir Hydropower Project (635 MW) has been commenced. District Administration Office, Khotang has started land acquisition. The hydropower project on the border of Rawabesi Village Municipality-3, Lamidanda of Khotang and Chisankhugadhi Gaonpalika-6, Bhadaure of Okhaldhunga has started the process of acquiring land within the Rawabensi Village Municipality and Aiselukharka Village Municipality of Khotang, Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu.

The administration has issued information for the acquisition of 5,304 plots of land in Rawabensi village municipality and 522 plots of land in Aiselukharka village municipality.

The land acquisition work in Chisankhugadhi village municipality of Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu affected by the project will be done gradually. The construction of the hydropower project affected 34,22,603 ​​square meters of land in Khotang, 35,12,322 square meters in Okhaldhunga and 1,71,004 square meters in Solukhumbu. 

The project is moving ahead with the aim of generating electricity by pouring water into Dhitung through a 13.30 km headrace tunnel from the reservoir to be constructed by building a 200 meter high dam in Rambhuwabazar of Lamidanda.

The estimated cost of the project is US $2.2 billion. According to NEA, the project will generate 3.44 billion units of energy annually.
