Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Signs PPA Agreement

Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Company has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA). The company is developing a 135 MW Manang Marsyangdi Hydro-electric Project on the Mangdi River in Chame and Nasong villages of Manang. The project is a Peaking Run-of-River type.

Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Company is fully owned by Butwal Power Company Limited. 

The project has also started the process of financial management. The target is to complete the construction of the project by March 2025.

Three Chinese companies have won the contract for the construction of the project. The project will be constructed with the joint investment of SCIG International Limited, Xinchen International Investment, and QYEC International.

This is the first of three projects the company is planning to build on the Mangdi River in collaboration with Chinese partners. The project estimates to generate 767 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.

Department of Electricity Development provided the construction license for the project on November 17, 2018, for a period of 35 years.
