Mega Bank Conducts Financial Literacy Program For The Farmers Of Rautahat

Mega Bank Nepal Limited has conducted an orientation program on agricultural credit and financial literacy for the farmers of Gujara Municipality of Rautahat District to modernize the traditional agricultural system and engage in commercial agriculture. The Bank in collaboration with Urbar Nepal Public Limited provided information about the agricultural loan, savings, Mega Kisan Card, and other services including interest subsidy of the bank.
The Bank also interacted with the farmers of Gujara, which is the pocket area for paddy, pulses, and maize cultivation, through the financial literacy program.
On the occasion, Punya Prasad Khaniya, Head of Micro Banking Department of Mega Bank, Yashpal Kumar Tibrewal, Head of Province No. 2, and Belal Ahmed, Head of Birgunj Branch informed about the importance of banking services, savings, loans, remittances, saving measures, etc.
Following the agreement with Urbar Nepal, Mega Bank has been providing concessional commercial agriculture and animal husbandry loans to the farmers under micro, small and medium loans, and concessional interest subsidy loan guidelines of Nepal Rastra Bank.
In addition, Mega Bank has been providing Kisan Card to the farmers. Through the Kisan Card, farmers will be able to purchase the agricultural inputs, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other items they need from the agri-cooperatives and agri-shops. Kisan Card is the first modern banking service launched by Mega Bank to farmers.
