Middle Hongu Khola-B Hydropower Project (22.90 MW) To Be Constructed In Solukhumbu

Gaurishankar Power Development Pvt. Ltd. has received the construction license for the Middle Hongu Khola B Hydropower Project. The Department of Electricity Development (DOED) has issued the license for the project on Magh 12, 2078 BS. The construction license is valid until Magh 11, 2013 BS.

Middle Hongu Khola B Hydropower Project is a run of the river project with an installed capacity of 22.90 MW. It is located in Mahakulung and Sotang Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu District.

The powerhouse of the project will consist of 2 units of vertical axis Francis turbines to generate 22.90 MW of electricity. The project will produce 130.607 GWh of electricity annually- 39.32 GWh in the dry season and 90.14 GWh in the wet season. The generated electricity will be evacuated at the Tingla Substation through a 20 km long 132 kV double circuit Transmission Line.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4.70 Arba. The company aims to complete the construction within 3 years.
