Quota System In Application For Driver’s Licenses Removed

Department of Transportation Management has removed the limited number of trial examinations for driver’s licenses. Anyone will be able to apply from Friday. Earlier, 19 offices across the country had set a quota of only 20,000 applications per week.
However, the regular SMS service received by the service recipients filling up the online driver’s license form has been discontinued. The department said the service was shut down due to technical reasons. It is requested to keep the register number obtained from its online system safe for the time the SMS service is blocked and to contact the concerned office on the specified date.
The department has made arrangements for those who want to give a trial to fill the form online. The application process has been closed for the last 9 months (since Chaitra 11) and reopened only recently. There was a problem that the system did not work due to overcrowding after the application form was not filled for a long time.
When there was a quota system, even the same person tried to fill the form again and again and when s/he could not fill it, there was a problem in the system and the server went down. Officials at the Department of Transportation say the problem will be resolved once the new system is implemented.
