Resunga Airport: Laying Of Foundation Stone Of Terminal Building And Control Tower

Mayor of Resunga Municipality Dilliraj Bhusal and Chief District Officer Bharat Kumar Sharma jointly laid the foundation stone of the terminal building and control tower of Resunga Airport on Wednesday. A construction agreement has been signed for the terminal building and control tower of the airport at a cost of Rs 45.2 million. The work of the building and tower agreed upon on Chaitra 4, 2076 will be completed on Ashoj 3, 2078.

Resunga Airport is currently in the final stages of construction. The runway, terminal building, control tower and tarpaulin are being constructed. Rautaha Hari JV has signed an agreement for the work of the runway at a cost of Rs. 72.5 million. As per the agreement to complete by Karthik 2077, only 35 percent of the runway blacktop has been finished.

The construction work of Resunga Airport was done by the then Tourism Minister Pradip Kumar Gyawali in 1963 BS. Formally, the construction work of the airport has been regularized since 1972 BS. It has been more than two years since the dust test flight of the airport. Madhukrishna Pantha, chairman of the airport construction committee, said that all the works would be completed by next year after Gyawali took special interest in the construction of the airport.

So far, Rs 210 million has been spent on the construction of the airport by acquiring land, cutting, filling, retaining wall and construction of external sewer. In terms of overall airport construction, 45 percent of the work has been done financially and physically.
