Sunil Poudel Appointed As Managing Director Of Nepal Telecom

Sunil Poudel has been appointed as the Managing Director of Nepal Telecom. A cabinet meeting on Thursday appointed Poudel as the managing director of the telecom.
The names of Buddhi Acharya, Sangita Pahadi and Sunil Poudel were recommended by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Employees’ unions have been protesting for a long time saying that the selection process of MD of Telecom has been opaque and fraudulent.
The selection method and appointment criteria were changed during the appointment of managing director. Previously, there was a provision for the managing director of a telecom to have reached the age of 40 and less than 58 years. At present, this has been changed to the completion of 35 years and should be less than 56 years.
Earlier, Dilliram Adhikari had retired from the post of managing director of the telecom on Poush 22.
The state-owned Nepal Telecom has a paid-up capital of Rs. 18 billion.
