Upper Chhandi Khola Small Hydropower (4 MW) Starts Commercial Electricity Generation

Upper Chhandi Khola Small Hydropower Project, located at Chyangdi Khola in Dordi village municipality of Lamjung, has started commercial electricity generation. With this, the four-megawatt electricity has been added to the national grid after completion of construction and testing. The project was connected to the national transmission line since the first week of Mangsir.
The electricity generated from the project is connected to the Udipur substation of NEA and then connected to the national transmission line.
The construction of the project, which started in Karthik 2075 BS, was targeted to be completed by Shrawan 2077 BS. According to the power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nepal Electricity Authority, the date of power generation is 2078 BS. The PPA has been fixed as 4.80 paisa per unit in monsoon and 8.40 paisa per unit in winter. For the project which generates 22.30 gigawatt hours of electricity annually, the facility of price increase up to eight times has been provided.
The project has been constructed by Chhyangdi Hydropower. The promoter company Chhyangdi Hydropower has stated that Rs 803.5 million has been spent on the construction of the project. Bank of Kathmandu and Kumari Bank have provided 75 percent loan financing while the 25 percent is injected through equity investment.
