Upper Deumai Small Hydropower Project To Generate 8.3 MW Electricity

An 8.3 MW Upper Deumai Small Hydropower Project will be constructed in Deumai Municipality of Ilam District. Water Energy Solutions has already completed the environmental impact assessment report and study report of the project. Based on these reports, the Department of Electricity Development has issued a construction license to the promoter company.
The department granted the construction license on Falgun 6, 2078 BS. The license has a validity until Falgun 5, 2113 BS.
Once the construction license for the project is obtained, the company will now start the construction of the project. The project will generate 49.40 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually. The company aims to generate electricity from the project by Falgun, 2079 BS.
The water will be conveyed to the powerhouse through the construction of a dam in Deumai Municipality through 2,484 meters long headrace pipe and 5,990 meters penstock pipe.
Electricity will be generated through 3 phase generator connected to the turbine by discharging water in 2 turbines connected to the powerhouse. The electricity generated from the project will be connected to the Chisapani substation of the Nepal Electricity Authority at a distance of 12 km through the 33 KV line. The necessary transmission line to the substation will be constructed by the company itself.
