The construction work of the Upper Tamakoshi Project is being conducted with an aim to complete the project within the estimated time.
The spokesman of the project, Dr. Ganesh Prasad Neupane said that the most difficult part of the project is being handled in a planned manner. Placing and connecting the pipe in the upper vertical tunnel of the project is considered as one of the challenging portions of the national project which definitely needs planning and strategy. This work is being done by an Indian Company Texmaco.
However, the work related to the lower vertical tunnel was handed by the Indian Company to the Austrian Company, Andritz Hydro after it was late to complete the work-related pipe supply and connection in the lower vertical tunnel. The trilateral agreement has been made between these companies and the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd on 23rd of Paush. The Indian Company has called 20 more employees from Kolkata to complete the upper vertical tunnel work. So, the construction work will further gain pace in the coming days.
The Chief Director of the project, Mr. Kul Man Ghising has also taken an initiative to complete the project in time. Lately, he has been visiting the project regularly and making the procedure of the work easier by solving the problems related to the construction.
The hydropower project which was due to complete in fiscal year 2073/74 got affected by the Gorkha earthquake, design change, ineffective performance of the contractor, local conflict and other political factors because of which the estimated cost of the project has already doubled. The project is now expected to complete in Chaitra 2076.
