Darchula Power Developing 28.3 MW Madhya Chameliya Hydropower Project in Darchula District

Madhya Chameliya Hydropower Project, one of the large hydropower project in the Sudurpaschim province has entered the construction phase.  The project with the installed capacity of 28.304 MW is located in Marma Rural Municipality of Darchula district.

Darchula Power Limited is constructing the project. The company has already received the construction license of the project from the department of electricty development. The department issued the construction license on Chaitra 13, 2081 BS. The license has the validity until Chaitra 12, 2116 BS.

The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 5.65 billion. The company will construct the project using the water of Chameliya river flowing through wards 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Marma rural municipality.

The dam will be constructed 500 meters below the confluence of Ghatte Khola and Chameliya river in the lower coastal area. It will generate 28.304 MW of hydroelectricity in the surface power house through 7,080 meters long headrace pipe from the dam site.

Darchula Power Limited is the subsidiary company of Api Power Company Limited.
