Madhya Chameliya Hydropower Project (28.3 MW) To Be Constructed With Rs 6.18 Billion Investment

Madhya Chameliya Hydropower Project, one of the large hydropower project in the Sudurpaschim province has entered the construction phase. Work of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the project has already started. The project with the installed capacity of 28.3 MW is located in Marma Rural Municipality of Darchula district

Darchula Power Pvt. Ltd. is going to construct the project. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs. 6.18 billion. The company will construct the project using the water of Chameliya river flowing through wards 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Marma rural municipality.

The dam will be constructed 500 meters below the confluence of Ghatte Khola and Chameliya river in the lower coastal area. It will generate 28 MW of hydroelectricity in the surface power house through 7080 meters long headrace pipe from the dam site.
