Refinancing Facility To Distressed Hydropower Projects

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is going to provide a refinancing facility to the hydropower projects which have been hugely impacted due to various reasons. The central bank has made provision to provide relief to the affected projects by amending the ‘Nepal Rastra Bank Refinancing Procedure, 2077’.
Such facilities will be provided to the projects identified by the report of the committee formed to study the problems of the financially distressed hydropower projects operated by the private sector. Refinancing will be provided to hydropower projects smaller than 10 MW for a maximum of one year.
The committee had concluded that there were problems in 35 projects smaller than 10 MW. Such a facility will also be available to the projects that are facing problems due to Corona.
