The Mathilo Mailung Khola hydropower project, with a capacity of 14.3 megawatts, has successfully commenced electricity generation in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-1, Rasuwa district of Nepal.. Mathilo Mailung Khola Hydropower Limited, the developer of the project, has initiated trial production after completing all construction activities.
Upon the conclusion of construction, the generated electricity has been integrated into the national transmission line. Although initially intended to be connected to the Trishuli-3B hub substation, the ongoing construction delays of the hub have led to the temporary connection to the Trishuli 3A transmission line, with the electricity being routed to Matatirtha.
Originally estimated at a cost of Rs. 2.50 billion, the project’s total cost has escalated to Rs. 2.80 billion. This increase is attributed to delays in the construction of the national transmission line and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project’s groundwork commenced in the month of Karthik in the year 2076 BS.
